We had a wonderful time in NYC at the InStyle Independent Designer Handbag Awards – Supplii’s Toolbox Tote was up for Best Green Handbag. Although we didn’t win our category, it was nice to be a top-five finalist and to meet the other designers. Not to mention a chat with Kenneth Cole. Here are a couple pictures from the night:
Supplii™ just released the Mini Clutch – a smaller sibling to the original Clutch handbag. The Mini Clutch can be purchased in both Black Walnut and Maple.
The Mini Clutch is an all wood purse designed for the minimalist. Incredibly sturdy yet lightweight at 9.9 ounces, the bag feels like a natural and comfortable extension of the body: rounded, sanded edges kindly greet the hand; a water-based environmentally sensitive finish protects the wood while smoothing and shining a surface that feels good to the touch and against the body; and the soft interior floor brightens the space and protects your personal items.
We spent some time this past weekend taking some new photo shots for an upcoming piece of press coverage. The black walnut wood purse really shined and proved a great accessory to fall styles. Here’s a preview of a few of our favorites:
Austin-based Supplii is offering free shipping and a 20% discount to all DailyCandy readers on our bentwood handbags and purses. This special promotion will run for two weeks, expiring on September 8th.
Thanks to DailyCandy for highlighting Supplii and our bentwood purses, and thanks to DailyCandy readers for visiting our site!
Minimalists, look no further as we have the perfect accessory for your night out: the Supplii bentwood Clutch – the younger, skinnier sibling to the Tote. This all bentwood Clutch comes in either a Maple or Black Walnut exterior.
One inch longer and much narrower than that Tote at a streamlined 2.5 inches wide, the Clutch boasts simple portability with slender elegance that dresses up the casual and complements the formal.
My artistic and design sensibilities have been forged from exposure to a broad range of academic and professional endeavors, inclusive of architecture, urban planning, fine art, scenic design, and corporate branding and marketing. I have always reveled in the creation of tangible products and the thin divide between products that are functional and awe inspiring.
So Supplii is the culmination of these many endeavors, and what an incredibly fun and rewarding experience this has been for me. From concepts to drawings to molds to prototyping to the first commercially available product: the Supplii Toolbox. There are two variations of this product based on the materials, and both products (the Maple and the Black Walnut handbags) project a unique and elegant exterior finish that’s truly remarkable in function: the form leverages the tensile nature of the molded bentwood sheets to actually create the hinge. Both handbags are available on Supplii.com or through the “Shop Now” button on the left hand side of our Supplii Facebook Page.
These first outputs have resonated with me, taken me by surprise. The natural wood materials, the thoughtfully-crafted exterior form, the hand-smoothed edges and handle all feel so comfortable against the body and in the hand. The great efforts extended over nearly a year have paid off, and I hope you enjoy the output as much as I do.
There are other handbag molds currently in the production queue, and we at Supplii look forward to narrowing in on the next Supplii product release. We’re keeping the style of our next handbag close to our vests, but I can say it will reflect Supplii’s commitment to strong design and natural function. I can’t wait.
